Military Related Scholarships

Wounded Warrior Scholarship

The Wounded Warrior Scholarship was established by the Thomas Edison State College Foundation to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. military service members injured or wounded while on active duty and/or the spouses of these men and women. The scholarship is funded entirely by student, College staff, and Foundation donations.

For the 2010 Award Year, separate scholarships will be awarded in two categories, current applicants and currently enrolled students.

Wounded Warrior 1 Scholarship (Applicant Students Only)

General Eligibility Criteria
  • Current applicant to the College at the time of scholarship application
  • Have applied for financial aid (Federal, State (NJ residents only, and Thomas Edison State College)
  • Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria for the scholarship(s) for which applied.
  • Required documentation, if any, must be provided before the end of the application period
Specific Eligibility Criteria
  • Injured or wounded while on active duty with the U.S. military or a spouse of a service member with those circumstances
Documentation Required
  • Provide a copy of the front side only of your military/dependent ID card (blacked out SSN) or a command letter verifying your active duty or dependent status
  • Provide medical verification of wounds/injuries sustained by the service member while on active duty

Scholarship Uses: The scholarship can be used for tuition, fees, or books for Thomas Edison State College courses.

 

Wounded Warrior 2 Scholarship (Enrolled Students Only)

General Eligibility Criteria
  • Currently enrolled at Thomas Edison State College at the time of application
  • Have applied for financial aid (Federal, State (NJ residents only, and Thomas Edison State College)
  • Have at least a 3.0 Thomas Edison State College GPA at the time of application
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 Thomas Edison State College credits, with at least six hours being from Online or Guided Study courses
  • Incompletes, withdrawals, and failed classes do not count as completed credits and students must successfully complete 66 percent of courses attempted
  • Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria for the scholarship(s) for which applied
  • Required documentation, if any, must be provided before the end of the application period
