Coast Guard Tuition Assistance & Transcripts
Transcripts
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard members must request to have their military training assessed if they have not already done so. To do so, follow these steps:
- Complete the CGI form 1561 (Application for Voluntary Services) Student will see a link to the application near the bottom of the page. Your Education Services Officer (ESO) should be able to assist with this process.
- Request official transcripts, both military (Coast Guard) and civilian. Coast Guard transcripts can be requested from the U.S. Coast Guard Institute using CGI form 1564. As the transcripts are received by the College, your file will be sent for evaluation. Standard evaluation period is currently six to eight weeks. Please note that during this time you are allowed to register for courses if you wish to. Official transcripts should be sent to:

Tuition Assistance
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard interested in requesting tuition assistance from the Coast Guard should begin by completing the CGI form 4147.
Once you receive an approved tuition assistance form, send it to Thomas Edison State College:
Students will receive a confirmation once they are registered for course. Courses may be viewable or accessed via myEdison.
