The GPA is based solely on graded credits earned through Thomas Edison State College coursework, regardless of when these credits were earned and regardless of whether the course is used to fulfill a degree requirement. Only grades which reflect earned credits (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, and D) will be used to calculate the official Thomas Edison State College GPA. Courses with grades of F, U, W, I, IF, NC or any other symbol indicating no credit are not recorded on the transcript, nor will they be calculated into the GPA. Students who are enrolled with the College as degree seeking or non-degree seeking as of July 1, 2008 will be issued a transcript that includes GPA, therefore, a separate letter reporting a student's GPA will not be generated.
Prior to July 1, 2008, the GPA was computed internally to ensure that academic GPA requirements were met for each area of study and in the overall degree. A letter of GPA can be provided to Thomas Edison State College graduates from before July 1, 2008 who need it to be sent to an external credentialing body, such as the N.J. Department of Education, Office of Licensure and Credentials. GPA letters can not be provided to currently enrolled students or to students who haven’t graduated from Thomas Edison State College.
Due to federal privacy laws, such as the Family Educational Rights of Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), the Office of the Registrar can only process requests that contain the student's signature. Please include the following information:
